Filling our Spiritual Arks is just as important as filling our
Temporal Arks. Each will be important for your family's survival.
The talks given this past weekend during Conference
were filled with council and guidance that will help us to
be prepared for each.
HERE'S YOUR CHALLENGE:
Take a few minutes TODAY
to see where you are.
What areas could use a little bit of work?
What can you do to be more Spiritually Prepared?
What can you do to be more Temporally Prepared?
Set some goals that will help you to keep your focus
and help you follow through.
I know that during the next couple of months I would like to:
Up-Date My Cold Weather Clothing,
Spend MORE TIME Teaching My Boys About
THEIR Priesthood Responsibilities,
Increase My Scripture Reading To More Study Time,
Continue Working Toward Becoming
COMPLETELY Debt Free,
Attend the Temple WEEKLY,
and
Make Sure That My Home Is In Complete Order.
With the help of my Heavenly Father, I know that I will be
able to reach my goals.
Take the Challenge . . . See what happens in your HOME!
When you include the Lord in your plans,
GREAT THINGS CAN HAPPEN!
(P.S.)
I posted a comment I received under my
Vital Records Post on Sunday.
It was NOT SO VERY POSITIVE . . . AT ALL,
BUT I think that the intentions were meant to help others.
I have a lot of fun ideas for Halloween, but I don't want to take
away from the importance of being prepared.
I feel like we are meant to have fun along the way, but was
told in this comment,
that this was not the appropriate place to do so.
Please know that I pray daily for help in knowing what I should post.
I feel a great responsibility to TEACH and ENCOURAGE
the people I care about . . . so that they can BE PREPARED.
I always make sure that I post those things
that are of most importance first.
I am grateful for the talents I have been blessed with
and I love to share.
That's why I give EVERYTHING I create FOR FREE!
My intentions are not to make money or become famous.
I just want to do my calling to the BEST OF MY ABILITY!
If you feel like there is an area of preparedness
that I need to spend more time on . . . let me know
and I will make it my priority!
Sincerely, Trish
Dearest Trish,
ReplyDeleteYou demonstrated a very Christlike response to the anonymous comments made by someone who obviously felt you needed to change your blog to meet his/her requirements. Please know that there are many of us who are very grateful for your daily posts and reminders of how we can prepare without getting caught up in a rhetoric of fear and conspiracy. She/he is welcome to start his/her own blog where that can be addressed, but we sure hope that you will continue to bless and uplift us as only you can!
Hi Trish,
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your blog and I am a regular visitor! I LOVE everything you put on your blog. I am more prepared/and organized then I have ever been in my life because of you. The other morning I wasn't home and my husband needed our kids birth certificates and he knew right where they were because I have been putting together my binder. My children love all your little craft projects/games. I am a busy mom and enjoy doing crafts but with little kids I don't have time to come up with them on my own. But I do have time to push print and laminate :) Then when we are done playing with the games, I put them away in our 72 hour kits. Because I know if there is ever an emergency they are going to want something to do that is FUN! SO thank you for sharing your talents and TIME, PLEASE don't change a thing, I think you are doing a WONDERFUL job! PS- My friends, I, & my sisters all have your darling job charts hanging on our fridges :) YOU ARE TRULY A BLESSING IN MY LIFE!!!
Don't worry about what that other person said. I know since I have found you blog I am more prepared. I am starting to ge tthings ready for emergencies. You are an inspiration to me and my motivitaion to get things in line for my preparedness. Thanks again for all you do and keep up the cute stuff sometimes we just need a break to do something fun.
ReplyDeleteIt was a not so nice comment, but being one of those people who do prepare intesly...I can see both sides.
ReplyDeleteI appriciate your effort in the areas I am lacking. I don't come for the cutsy things, but the other parts like the FHE lessons, the food storage things and the fun handouts I can give to my VT sisters...that is what I come for. I am indebted to you for the time and effort you put into this blog and it is a blessing in my life. So, thank you.
I am sorry that person had an axe to grind and chose you to be their victim. I love your sight and I've recommended it to others. Keep up your GREAT work! I love what you do, everything is awesome.
ReplyDeleteTricia,
ReplyDeleteDon't feel discouraged! You an amazing blogger, and not because your stuff is cute! It is because you have SO much stuff about preparation in so many different areas, and you make it fun and inspiring to learn about. Don't let some other anonymous grinch bring you down! We live in OK and your blog is a little taste of all that unique Utah goodness! I visit everyday and look forward to your new posts! Keep up the great work!
Trisha,
ReplyDeleteYou are one amazing lady> I have learned much from your blog. I also think that useful can also be cute. Happy homes and families is vital to surviving what lies ahead. I know my family (my kids) will be that much happier due to your efforts and ideas. Thank you for all you do and keep up the great work.
Can't wait to see the October journal pages?
Sincerely,
Julie
I really like your website. It is an inspiration to me. I canned hamburger for the first time, yesterday. I've been putting together some of the vital records and have been doing some other things to get prepared. Things I can do little at a time, without going overboard. I know, if we are doing the best to our abilities, that Lord will make up the difference. You make it fun.....Heavenly Father intended us to work hard and have fun doing it. He wants us to be happy. That is part of his plan.
ReplyDeleteKeep up what you are doing. You are doing fabulous.
Trish,
ReplyDeleteI appreciate all your work and effort in teaching and sharing ideas. I have followed your blog for several months. I feel that you have balanced it all very well. That is what this is all about. I enjoy the crafts and FHE ideas. Please don't change things because of one persons comment. I for one can pick and chose the areas that I need help in without being critical of others. Keep up the great work!!
sending smiles!!
I would like to say - that everyone has different talents. I think it is important to share those talents. I was not prepared to be a creative mother....I am an excellent mother but not a creative one. You are helping me be PREPARED NOT SCARED to face motherhood - by giving me tons of fun ideas that I can share with my children! My young childrens lives have been so blessed by your creativity. I think being being prepared includes all areas of our lives - so Thank You!
ReplyDeleteWhile I can appreciate the comment from the person frustrated with the "cute" portion of your blog - I have to strongly disagree. I think you give practical and inspiring ideas everyday. Emergency planning and knowledge is important and we must heed the prophets warning - but we do not need to live as though a "dooms day" is approaching. Peace of mind comes form learning, being prepared, and enjoying the ride! Your ideas are practical and cost effective - and I so appreciate you!
ReplyDeleteI think you are doing an amazing job. I have followed your blog for months now. Keep doing exactly what you're doing.....you can't please everyone.....You have to do what you feel is best. Best of luck to you.
ReplyDeleteWow - I usually don't comment on your blog - but I felt like I had to this time after reading only a part of the comment posted on sunday - this type of venting suggests paranoia and anger issues and certainly distorted thinking - using this venue to vent may be useful to this person in the short term but suggests that they need some help dealing with reality - I think it was good of you to comment but you are not in a position to have to justify your actions [or your blog] - I personally find your blog very useful for preparedness and I also love the family games and activities which I can share - if this person does not appreciate what you do on your blog, ask them not to check it - simple - I hope you will continue to share all the types of things you do now - arendjewhidden@gmail [currently serving a mission with my husband in europe]
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm not an LDS member, but I DO enjoy your blog and have learnt much about preparedness from it.
ReplyDeleteHere in the UK we rarely suffer from any of the natural hardships other parts of the world do (Forset fires, tornados, earthquakes etc) but I know I'm a little better prepared for anything that might come our way because of this blog.
I just went and read the comment you mentioned, and whilst I think it was a little harsh, I can understand where the person was coming from. That said I can also see what you mean in your reply!
It's your blog, I think you do a great job, and I think you should do what you feel is what you are meant to do with it! You can never please everyone all of the time.
I have never understood though why Halloween is such a big deal in the States, and do wonder how Church goers reconcile their beliefs with their enjoyment (I hesitate to say "celebrate") of this event. This is not a critism, but a genuine question!
Thanks for reading,
Ann-Marie
I want to thank you for your blog! I'm not in your ward but stumbled upon your blog several months ago and I love it. Everything you post has been helpful to me in one way or another. You've helped me organize my kitchen, my meals and even provided a game to use during my daughter's Halloween class party this year. That might not seem like preparedness to someone else but as a mom of three - one a newborn - being prepared for EVERYTHING means more time with my family. I appreciate all you do and all you offer!
ReplyDeleteI have been following your blog now for about a year, and I can honestly say that I have been more motivated to get my house in order and be prepared than ever before. I have also thoroughly enjoyed all your creative and amazing crafts, organizing ideas, etc. etc. etc. How blessed you are to have the gifts you do, and how blessed we are, as readers to have access to your talents through the internet. I'm sure that the person who commented so negatively thought that they were being helpful, but I really hope that you continue posting all your wonderful ideas. Please know that you are AMAZING and very much appreciated. We will always find the negative in life if that is what we look for, and I can't help but think that the person who made that comment didn't look long enough to see the extensive preparedness information that you do have on your site. Keep up the good work that you do in helping to build the Lord's kingdom!!!
ReplyDeleteI am not in your ward but I just want to say, I love your blog-just as it is! You have a great blend of preparedness -physical & spiritual. I appreciate that you have fun stuff too. Life is meant to be enjoyed! And those fun little "extras" build memories with our families.
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time to share all this great information!
Trish,
ReplyDeleteYou have heard the quote: "You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time"! I think this applies to the past post.
I LOVE your blog!!! I have been learning from your blog for a while now, and I will say I have been so impressed! You are so organized and your blog has been very helpful to me! Many of my "prepardness" goals come from ideas you have given me!
I like the "cute" stuff - it seems to help motivate me to acutally do it, use it, and follow through with it! I feel like you have done a wonderful job in helping not just your family or your ward to become prepared but a whole host of people you don't even know (including me - thank you)! I think you are doing a great job and I hope you will continue in sharing your knowledge, ideas and pdf's! :) I also hope there will be some fun Thanksgiving ideas - like maybe a Thanksgiving Scavenger/Treasure hunt. . . hmm -that would be fun! or A "Don't Eat Turkey" game :)
I really want to add a paragraph to "anonymous" . . . but, I won't. I've learned, it's better to say nothing..., then say something I could regret.
Make it a great day!
Thank you for all your hard work. I really appreciate all your blog posts. Thanks to you, managing a household and trying to prepare/find ways to be prepared is less daunting. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteI really LOVE your blog just the way it is!!! It really upset me that someone would comment so harshly on what you put on YOUR blog. It has helped me become prepared in everything I do and has given me insight into what I can do better to become prepared. I really love your house of order posts, especially since I have twins who are 17 months old.I use my binder every day to help me keep track of things. Your ideas will help me for years to come. Thank you again for all your hard work!!
ReplyDeleteYou are an amazing person! My sister and I talk about how much we would love to meet you someday. We obviously are not in you ward--but sure wish we were! We read your blog faithfully everyday. Please, Please, Please keep doing what you are doing. Your holiday ideas are the best I have found ANYWHERE! Thank you for all of your hard work and for being willing to share your wonderful talents with us.
ReplyDeleteTrish,
ReplyDeleteI wanted to let you know that I love YOUR blog. You have so many great ideas. I feel that strengthening my family is the best and only way to prepare. Your blog has helped me to be a better wife and mother in all areas of my life.
I first found your site when I was looking for ideas for General Conference 6 months ago. I used the caterpillar to take notes of all the talks, then hung it on the wall as a decoration. I love that it helps me remember my feelings and what I need to work on.
I love that I can come to your site and find things that I have wanted to do, but haven't done them. I have 4 boys under the age of 6 and love that I can find chore charts, activities, and lessons that I need without having to take the time to create them myself.
You have inspired me to plan and prepare for emergencies as well. Thank you for making preparedness a task that seemed impossible to me before into something that seems so simple.
Thanks again.
Your blog is amazing and has helped more people than you will ever know become prepared. You are an amazing person for doing this and taking crap from people who are obviously paranoid about our government. You have exceeded the expectations of helping others being prepared. The "cute" stuff is a bonus and so very much appreciated. In a world of negativity it is easy to forget about the fun and simple things that bring people together and put a smile on their faces. Keep the "cute" stuff coming.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to tell you that I have been a faithful reader of your blog for the past year. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your talents with me. I have looked for a way to be more organized and prepared for years and this is the first time that I have actually had a plan!!!!! My kids are grown, but I love the fun FHE lessons, crafts and games. I can incorporate them into my callings. So don't change a thing, not only are you helping those in your ward, but also all of us who just check in on a daily basis. Thanks again for all the time and effort that you put into this.
ReplyDeleteTrish,
ReplyDeleteI CAN believe how you were able to respond to Anonymous so well... You are one of the greatest women I've ever known! Coming from someone who has worked with you in the past I feel that I need to say something. Although, I'm sure there are others out there who know you even better than I. Tricia, you do EVERYTHING with the spirit. You always have the best intentions and would never do something on purpose to hurt another. It's obvious you put hours upon hours into your posts. It sounds like Anonymous just wanted to be a flat tire in your journey! Love you tons! Keep up the wonderful posts! Look how many people value your hard work!!!
And to Anonymous a question...Why didn't you call Tricia with your concerns? Her phone number is clearly posted, and all of this bitterness could have been resolved without making such a scene. Or is that what you wanted?
Thanks again Trish!
Dani
I too wanted to add my voice of gratitude for what you have created here. Is there a need on this world wide web for some of the suggestions made? Sure. But I don't think it's your responsibility to talk about the decline of the American dollar, etc. If I were the creator of the blog, I'd have content about which I'm passionate and knowledgeable. If someone who is passionate and knowledgeable about those things wants to start their own blog, power to them!
ReplyDeleteYou are kind enough to spend your time and energy on things that your ward (and many others like me who are not in your ward) need and want in the way of preparing our homes and families to live in accordance with what the Prophets and Apostles have asked of us. I love all the food storage ideas and meals. We still have super little ones, so we're not doing a full blown home evening (besides the nursery manual) yet, but I think that would be helpful when we arrive there. I'd actually secretly hoped to be called to the preparedness calling for our ward so I could help implement some of the awesome suggestions and ideas you've come up with like the Vital Records Binder and food storage (and I even asked if I could head up a RS preparedness monthly class, even if I wasn't called as the official preparedness leader). You've been an inspiration to me. Thanks for all you do. You're magnifying your calling.
Wow, you are a much better person than myself in the way you responded!!! Thank you for being such an incredible example! I just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your hard work! I can't believe how much time and effort it takes to maintain this blog and I have recommended it to so many people! My binder is incredible and even those cute Halloween ideas helps me be PREPARED to be a better mother and wife! We all need a little cuteness in our lives! :) You are truly an example of sharing your talents and light instead of hiding them!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for all of your FREE hard work. I have wanted to put together a binder for years and finally have done it with your help. Plus I used your Hallween games for my kindergarteners Halloween Party. It was so great to have it all done. All I had to do is print. You make a mom alot easier. Don't change anything. I love the whole blog and appreciate all of your hard work. You are blessing so many of our lives. Thank you.
