A Mother's Conference Journal!

I LOVE CONFERENCE!!!
The gospel never ceases to amaze me,
especially at Conference time.
I love to watch as people from all over the world
come together in obedience, to listen to a Living Prophet
and Apostles.
It's just AMAZING!!!
I have always taken notes during each of the conference speakers.
I know that the talks can be printed off almost immediately
after the session is over now days,
but for me ... writing it down makes it more personal.
I have received so many answers during this process.
I don't know if it's because writing it down makes
me listen more intently or what.
Just in case you haven't noticed .. . I'm a very visual person,
and even though just writing in a regular notebook was
fine, I wanted to make it into something I would
want to look at over and over again.
Hence . . .
MY CONFERENCE JOURNAL
was created.
Here It Is . . .
Cover Page
(This page slips into a 3-ring Binder.)
Back Page
Spine
Page 1
(Slip these pages into a sheet protector.)
Page 2
Page 3
Page 4
Page 5
I usually print two pages per speaker.
One to write on during conference, and the other
for personal study to use with the Conference Ensign.
I added a personal challenge for me and for my family
to the page I use during Conference.
This seems to be when the things I need to do in
my home and with my family stand out to me.
Even though we are being addressed
as a huge group . . .
The messages can be very personal!
These binders can be added to every conference.
It's an AWESOME reference as well as a
Fun Visiting Teaching Gift!
(Thanks for the idea Valerie!)
I'm soooo excited for Conference!
It feels like Christmas every Conference weekend  . . . I LOVE IT!!!
Here's the PDF:
My Conference Journal Packet PDF
Note:
These pages can be printed in black and white
if you don't want to use colored ink!
Hope you have a GREAT Conference Weekend!
Still more ideas to come!!!

A Few Conference Ideas ... Are On The WAY!!!

As I was wondering through the store
trying to think of ways to help my family
REALLY LISTEN
to Conference, I couldn't help but notice that the shelves
were filled with colored plastic eggs.
They were EVERYWHERE!!!
The more I thought about these wonderful
little things,
the more I began to realize that . . .
The plastic egg possibilities are endless!
Here's a way to make this Conference
EGGS-tra Special using plastic eggs!
Place a basket of plastic eggs on a small table in the room
you will be watching conference.
Have each family member write a question or two
from each of the talks on the cards included in the PDF.
Questions Like:
What did President Monson talk about?
What were two scriptures mentioned in the firsts session?
What color was President Eyring's tie?
Fold the cards and put them inside of the eggs.
The filled eggs will go into a separate basket.
If you have a bit of an age difference,
you may want to divide the eggs into two different colors.
One color for the older kids and the other for the
younger children.
That way, your littles won't give you the deer-in-the-headlights
face when you ask them a deep question about the atonement or
something like that!
Smaller children can also color pictures of
what the speaker is talking about on the
back of the Question Cards.
After each session
(Which just happens to be near meal time ... and a great time for a gathering!)
sit down as a family and take turns opening the eggs.
If you can answer the question correctly . . .
YOU WIN!
Prizes can be anything from
Treats to Points!
Points could used for some AMAZING PRIVILEGES like:
No Dishes for YOU!
Oh, the JOY! ... I just happen to be the best listener ... EVER!
(At least when it comes to conference talks!)
Here are the Question Cards:
Here's the PDF:
It might take a little more effort to...
but it will be soooo worth it!

Conference Pumpkin Hunt!

 Here’s How to Play:
After each session of conference you will hide pumpkins,
one for each of the speakers during that session
either in the house or the yard.
You could change the location everytime
just to keep things fun.
Each pumpkin will have a number.
I have include a sheet that you will fill in during conference.
The blank one is for the kids to fill out during each session.
They can fill one in as well to use as a cheat-sheet for the game.
They won’t even realize that they are paying attention.
They might think they're just going for the prize . . .
How great is it that we know the prize is not only temporal . . .
but ETERNAL as well!
Now it’s time for the hunt!
Send the kids on a hunt to find the numbered pumpkins
you have hidden.
They only get the prize if they can answer the questions
that go with that pumpkins number.
You may want to divide the prizes into different groups.
Little candies for part of the answer
and Dollar Store prizes for complete answers!
That might make them pay a little closer attention
to the next session.
Here are the Questions:
Who was the speaker?
What the topic was?
and a
Bonus Question written by YOU!
I think for my bonus questions I'm going to write down
1 or 2 scriptures referenced by the speaker
and work on them between now and the next session of conference.
I have also included some Music Pumpkins and Cards:
I just bought some prizes from the Dollar Store.
You can use REAL pumpkins or the PAPER ones
I've included in the PDF.
Copy, Cut, and Laminate!
Here's the PDF:

Enjoy!

This is a fun memory game that will help to

I Will . . .
Use the names of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ Reverently.

I Will . . .
Do those things on the Sabbath that will help me feel close to Heavenly and Jesus Christ.

I Will . . .
Honor my parents, and do my part to strengthen my family.

I Will . . .
Keep my mind and body Sacred and Pure!  I will not partake of things that are harmful to me.

I Will . . .
Dress Modestly to show respect for Heavenly Father and Myself.

Here's the PDF:
To Make This Project You Will Need To:
Print the PDF
(I printed mine on Crack-n-Peel)
Cut out each of the cards.
Cut cardstock a little larger than the printed cards.
I used white cardstock, but black would also be cute.
(This will help to make the game more sturdy.)
Each cards will have a front and a back.
Attach the cards to the cardstock.
Laminate the cards and you're ready to play!
This game is a
GREAT ADDITION
to your
Conference Kit!
(Two posts down . . . one to go!)

"Hold to the Rod" Conference Treat!

This is something I am planning on giving my boys
on Sunday Morning before the first session of Conference.
You can give it a couple different ways:
(Pictures Coming!)
You can print the poem and give it with a bag of
Pretzel Rods dipped in caramel and chocolate, wrapped in
a cellophane bag . . .
Or
You can put some fun surprises into the inside of an
empty toilet paper roll wrapped in colored cardstock,
and then wrapped again with the cellophane and tied on both ends.
I just attached the tag with the ribbon on one of the ends.

Conference Candy Bar!
This candybar could be left near each child's bed
the night before conference,

Here's the Candy Bar Wrapper PDF:
This wrapper fits a 5 ounce Hershey's Bar.

Conference Guesses!

Conferences Guesses!
Just one more way to encourage good behavior
during conference.
It also gives us as parents, the opportunity to
give some possitive praise and encouragement!
(My FAVORITE Part of being a MOM!)
Here's the Poem that goes with the Jars:
Tickets:
I printed and laminated my tickets so that I can re-use
them during the Spring Conference Sessions.
Guesses are written on the back of the tickets
with a wet-erase marker.
I made one jar for each of my boys . . . My fingers are
crossed that ALL of them will get to make lots of guesses,
so that EVERYONE Wins!
Here's the Conference Poem and Tickets PDF:
I can't wait for Coference . . . It feels like Christmas!
