A House of Order: Family Glasses!

I don't know how things are in your house but,
summertime at my house means
2 dishwasher loads per day of just
GLASSES!
The kids get a new glass every time they need a drink
and when friends come over . . . the used glass count triples!
This is something my mom did in our home and it
was the
PERFECT SOLUTION!
I don't know why it has taken me so long to do it
for my own family.
Here it is . . .
You Will Need:
1 Lazy Susan
1 Glass for Each Person in Your Family
In their color . . . or use vinyl lettering
to add their name to the glass.
The only set back on the vinyl,
is that you have to hand wash the glasses.
(But you only have to do it once a day . . . so it's not so bad!)
I use plastic cups for guests and I keep a sharpie close
by so that they can write their name on their cup.
Summer Dishes just got a whole lot easier
at the Smith House!
Happy Day!

My mom did this too, except she just used a marker to write our initials on the bottom of the glass ... still dishwasher friendly! I keep a color coded reuseable water bottle for each boy in the fridge. Guests get a cup ...

I got the glasses and the Lazy Susan at
Good ole' Walmart!
I'm afraid people are going to start thinking I live there! I did see some at Target as well.
Thanks for being so sweet!

Soo... I was thinking you could get a real glass (if your kids are older esp.) and use the etching medium to etch their initials on it or their whole name...then you could wash them in the dishwasher.

We do this at our home too.
I bought a wine bottle holder and turned it on it's side and we put the cups in there. To label I used fingernail polish initials on the bottom. They did eventually wear off in the dishwasher, but by then we each knew "our color". :)
Thanks for your blog. I LOVE it!

What a silly idea this is ... that has changed my life! I have been using it for a few weeks now and love it. No more cups all around, no more climbing on the counter to get a cup they can't reach, no more bugging mom when a friend is over! Why didn't I think of it? I love these organization ideas you give-keep 'em coming.
